CLASSROOM INSTRUCTION
Classroom instruction is an integral part of the Driver Education program. It is designed to provide each student with basic information on a range of topics associated with the safe operation of a motor vehicle, motor vehicle laws, the physics of driving, perception, judgment, driver fitness, and most importantly, how to interact with other drivers. The New York State Department of Motor Vehicles mandates that students receive at least 24 hours of classroom instruction.
Driving is much more than simply maneuvering a car through traffic. A driver must learn to interact with other users of the road. Classroom instruction provides this instruction. This process requires training over an extended period of time while under the direct supervision of the parents and the instructor.
